FAQ.
ADMIN. What can I expect from Last Eden? LE is run as a character-driven exploration game, with plot writeups at the start of each month and events once or twice a month. Characters arrive on the White Moon and are given the opportunity to integrate with its community. One can choose to learn new skills and build relationships with their fellows, or delve deeper into political schemes that will have an effect on the ship as a whole. The game draws inspiration from Civilization: Beyond Earth, Drakengard, FFXIV as well as Granblue Fantasy. What about AC? Activity is 10 comments across no more than two threads, as well as a short written blurb about what your character has been up to in the Moon, which will be used for next month's plot. This will go up during the last week of every month. Engagement is key to moving the plot forward! Who can I play here? Canon characters, OCs, CRAUs, the like. Most characters are eligible to be apped as long as they have enough canon material to review from. Duplicates of characters are not allowed, however the same character but played from different canons are allowed. For example, Spider-man from MCU and Spider-Man from Marvel will be allowed in the game at the same time. However, you cannot play a CRAU version of Sora if there is already a canon Sora in the game. Apps? Applications will open on the last week of each month, with reserves and TDM going up a week before that. You may only app one character per app round. There will be a hard cap of 40 characters, and two characters per person. Since the plot is custom-written by the mods, this is the largest size they can handle. Can my character keep their powers/pets/magic weapons/spirit partners? Yes, for the most part. Gamebreaking powers will be nerfed down to not-so-gamebreaking levels. ICly this is explained as the Sun absorbing part of their power due to them being in its vicinity. You can bring Pokemon and whatever weaponry that your characters have on them, but please use discretion to not powergame other characters. Large pets will also be scaled down to the size of a small horse. When in doubt, ask! What if my character is dead/has special needs? Dead characters can be revived by the mysterious force that made them appear in the moon ship. You can keep characters' injuries and disabilities at your own discretion. If your character requires special sustenance, it can be handwaved that the Sun is somehow sustaining them with it, or you may choose to play with them needing to find what they require from other sources. However, please bear in mind that seeking healing or mana does come with a price in the setting. What happens if my character dies? For now, this is a permadeath game. However, this may change in the future. ![]() How does the network operate? Due to the factional nature of the game, there is no 'overarching network' that links the entire moon. There are various communication devices such as old-fashioned phones and magic mirrors, but these are on a per-faction basis. For communicating between factions, you might have to get creative! Who runs this joint? Mod contact post is thisaways. SETTING. What do our characters do? As per a government agreement, each faction will take in a certain number of foreigners. They will receive simple housing in their faction territory and a small amount of money to start them off - but after that, they will have to work to earn their keep. They can choose to learn skills unique to their faction, or share their knowledge with the locals to build new things. You can do anything you'd like! You can find more information on the various nations here. So are there any concrete tasks or jobs that we have reference with? There will be a bounty board. Tasks will be posted there by NPCs, or players can also post there for 'assistance wanted' requests and such. Taking these bounties will also give your characters a reward. For more, see here. Can my character start a business/school/have some NPC dealings? Go ahead! Since this is a small game, feel free to play out minor NPC interactions, we will not be policing them. There is a rough 'population overview' on the factions page, so as long as you adhere to each nation's general people personality, it'll be fine. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask! You can contact plot-important NPCs over on the NPC page. I play a villain who wants to cause trouble at some point. Can I do that? Absolutely. Do bear in mind that IC actions have IC consequences, but if your villain character wishes to commit some crimes/shank someone, that's fine. Run it by mods and we'll discuss it with you! How does my character arrive? PCs will arrive at the Sanctum, a small temple-like building beneath the Sun. They appear inside the building, on the marble floor. Their personal effects and/or pets will appear around their body. They will be briefed about the Moon as well as their current situation, as well as receive a faction-specific 'starter pack' of information and the like after they have pledged their alliance. Each character will be given access to a small apartment of the style that is common to their faction. However, you are free to have them purchase more lavish housing in the future. You can read an IC view of the arrival process on the premise page. But you said this game was set inside a moon? Why is there a Sun? The Sun is the name given to a large white crystal that floats at the centre of the Moon. Since it provides light (much like a real sun), it was given that designation. The Sanctum has a tall tower to which one can walk up to direct vicinity of the Sun, but it's restricted access for now. So how does this Moon work? The Moon is built a bit like a Stanford Torus, where people live on the 'inside' of the moon as opposed to the outside. Gravity pulls everything down towards the 'walls' of the moon, so one can look up and see the part of the moon that is directly opposite it. It's a bit trippy, but one gets used to it. Only half the Moon is actively inhabited/has people going on it. This is acknowledged as the 'bottom'. The other half, the 'top', appears to be a rocky region. It is too polluted to be inhabited, and as a result there has been an edict forbidding people from trying to reach those peaks. It's too dangerous. The Sanctum marks the centre of the bottom part of the Moon, The land around it is divided into four parts, one for each faction (or nation). The immediate area in the centre is an administrative zone, where people from all four nations can mingle as they wish. It's kind of unfortunate, but the areas closest to the Sanctum are the most affluent, with the less well-off people living in the perimeter. The Moon has weather systems such as rain and clouds, as well as a small inland sea. There is a lot of physics warping in place, which is performed by the Sun. People can farm and keep animals in the Moon, and it's almost like life on another planet... except the sky is not blue. One can see through to the Badlands if they look up. Don't people get claustrophobic? There are doors to the outside, of course. Access to space results in observatories being built on the exterior of the moon. The airlocks are maintained either by technology, or by magic depending on construction. If your character so wishes, they can go out and take a walk, or fly on a dragon. There is also a window in the 'ceiling' of the Moon. However, it cannot be reached by humans. Tell me about the Badlands. These are the peaks and valleys that occupy the uninhabited half of the Moon. In recent years something seems to have intensified there, causing people to faint and life to wither inside the mountains. The closer to the Badlands one gets, the more dangerous it becomes. As a result it's not recommended to venture outside the city's gates. Characters bear strong immunity to the miasma (presumably because they come from another world), and can explore the exterior without feeling its debilitating effects too much. As a result, the factions will reward characters for going out and bringing back materials and news. You said something about dragons! Yes, there are space dragons! They look like conventional dragons in that they have four legs and a pair of wings, and come in a wide variety of colours. They are powered by crystals similar to the Sun in their chest, called Life Engines. This allows them to convert matter into energy to fuel their bodies. They also have access to an ability called an Absolute Boundary, which draws a protective barrier around them. This is the reason they are able to fly into space without asphyxiating. While in space, they use colour patterns on their wings and bodies to communicate with each other. Dragons reside mostly within the Ice faction, though all four factions are able to borrow dragons from the Ice nation's dragon roosts to travel out into space. While sightseeing may be considered rather frivolous, one can negotiate with the roost keeper NPCs to rent a mount out into the wild. The dragons are intelligent on the level of dolphins, and will resist commands if they deem it dangerous. if your PC faints for whatever reason, they will also carry them back into the Moon. FACTIONS. The factions have a separate info page. You can find details about their culture and abilities there. How are the factions picked? This is chosen OOCly by players. ICly, the character can be selected by the faction representative, or they can volunteer themselves to said representative. This will occur before they leave the Sanctum. Please take into account whether your character will be a good fit for their faction when you apply. You must choose one as they will be the ones providing your character with housing and community help. The Ice faction will be capped due to plot reasons. For now, the limit is 8 characters. We may ask you to pick a different faction if the current number is too high. There are also IC requirements, such as your character being able to handle the duty of looking after a dragon. However, if you have strong justification to why the faction fits your character best, you may be allowed in even over cap. Talk with us! Can my character change faction? Yes, but with a lot of caveats since they will have to ICly negotiate it. Contact us if you want to play this. What happens if my character is kicked out? Usually, this wouldn't happen unless they have committed a grave crime against the culture of their nation. The exception is with the Ice faction since they have very high expectations of their people. Due to plot reasons, the registration of foreigners (the PCs) is very important. If your character does not have enough resources to own their lodging or pay for living expenses, then they would have to try to join another faction. Success rates will vary from case to case. The possibility of making your character factionless, or having them start their own faction, will be available in the future. Is it possible to visit another faction's territory? The nations are all on peaceful terms with each other, so one does not need a permit or anything to travel to another region. However, the overall atmosphere of the region may make it dangerous. One should not travel to Blood territory without a way to defend themselves, for example. Transportation between and within factions exist and are utilized frequently by the locals. The Ice faction also operates a dragon courier or taxi service for longer journeys, since they are the only nation with flight-capable transportation. There are trains in the Light faction, boats in the Spring faction, horses, etc. Your character is highly encouraged to live within their faction's territory, but they can bunk with a friend in another faction if they so wish. However, this means that they will be treated as a double foreigner in that faction. Ice faction characters do not live in Ice territory. Instead, they bunk in the dragon watchtowers that are scattered across the Moon, in the territory of the other three. They enjoy some 'diplomatic immunity' and the locals will not be as hostile to them. I want to know about the network devices for each faction. Light: Phones, radio, 2000s style. There's internet, but it's stuck in the 1990s. Cellular service is available only within Light territory, so characters will have to improvise when visiting another area. Blood: There are a variety of magic amulets and scrying bowls that can be used for one-to-one communication. You can buy pre-enchanted items at markets, or make your own. However, do bear in mind that powerful broadcasting devices will need divine magic to function. Spring: There are basic magic mirrors, but for the most part communication is done face-to-face. Ice: Presumably, they use magic mirrors and stuff like that. But they are very secretive about their stuff so information is Coming Soon (tm). Can my character join a government institution/hold a position of power? As long as you can ICly explain how they achieve it, it's possible! Each faction has different skills and values that they treat as important, so if your character fulfils them, they can be given that role. We will not be actively policing this, so all we ask is a check-in with the mods for approval. Some examples: Peter Parker is extremely gifted in scientific engineering. He joins the Light faction and demonstrates his knowledge. He then gains access to one of the laboratories and helps them with research. In this way he can enter some government buildings and be paid well for his work. Harry Potter is a good wizard. He's strongarmed into the Blood faction and duels magicians with his spellwork. As a result he gains a sizeable amount of street credentials and locals trust him enough to invite them into their drinking halls. He wants to help out in one of the god temples, and due to his strength, he is given access. Cao Pi has knowledge on how to run a nation. He offers his advice to the Spring court and manages to convince some of the officials. They invite him to draft some plans for irrigation for a local village. It works out, so the villagers respect him and some of them may ask him for advice. He can rely on their help in return. How does the Blood faction's magic work? Blood magic (ha ha) operates on the principle of equivalent exchange. In order to perform a task, one must invoke the power of a god that governs the aspect of the task. So the god of rain for casting rain, the god of torches for setting someone on fire, stuff like that. There are a ton of gods in the Blood Pantheon, so you can easily find one that will answer your prayer. Players are free to make up minor gods to facilitate threads. The gods do not have personal names and are referred to by only their aspect. The summoning process varies from person to person and from god to god, so as long as the individual makes contact with their chosen deity, they can make an offer for the god's help - to lend them their strength for a short while. The more power necessary for the prayer, the higher the price. Usually the cost is paid in the caster's life force, so they will feel tired afterwards. The summoning cost can also be paid with the life force of another human or animal. However, the god may also ask for physical favors, such as offing someone, or helping another of their followers. We leave this up to player discretion to play out how their prayers will work out. However, please run large prayers or requests by us. Because each god is aspected, following the path of one god will give characters mastery of only one class of magic. The stronger gods have temples where people worship and give sacrifice towards. One can choose to enter a pact with a god, thus allowing them access to the god's powers without need for praying every time. However this is again a give and take process, so there will be something sacrificed in return. For characters, the gods are especially interested in things that do not exist on the Moon, so they may be able to strike a better deal with these things. The reason for the complicated process is the nature of the god realm, the Crucible. The Blood gods are just as varied in their interests and personalities as humans. The lesser gods always seek new followers and offerings to boost their standings in the Crucible, so they will be more free to offer their powers to mortals. The primal gods, such as of fire, time or wind, have lesser interest in the power struggle and thus will exact a higher price to access their powerful abilities. It's all give and take. So how will my character get stronger? There are two ways. The main way is to enter a god pact, which will enable a character to access aspected powers. Most of the faction already actively do this, so it's easy to find a temple that will take you. If one wishes to avoid tying their soul to a deity, they can also work on improving their stamina. Since magic consumes life force to cast, if one can boost their stamina enough, they can eventually cast without the need for divine assistance. Unaspected magic does exist, and is sourced from the self. However this is an obscure branch and it may be a bit hard to track their practitioners down. Let us know if you wish to explore this path! Wow, that sounds like a lot of work. What about the Spring spirits? For the most part, these spirits are much like the nature spirits of Earth lore. They are varied in nature and ability depending on their place of origin, so players are free to make up spirits to play with. They will have weather or plant-based powers, for the most part. Think creatures like Pokemon, whom you can befriend and take on as companions. We will not be policing this either, only that you run it by us if you wish your character to bond with a powerful one. My character is not from either of those factions. Can they still learn magic? Yes. Your character will need find someone willing to teach them, however. Perhaps another PC? I play an already magical character. How would their stuff interact with the setting? Run it by us and we'll give you a custom tailored answer. ETC. I have a question that isn't answered here yet. Comment and we'll get back to you as soon as we can! |

So as you know Accalia here has magic which is explained in detail here. If there's anything you'd like me to scale down in terms of her powers please let me know. o / And also I wanted to know how her magic/spell negation + the possibility of her magic inhibitors being removed would interact with the setting in particular because... those are some things that should be addressed first before I try anything with this girl here.
no subject
Accalia can definitely keep her simple spells and force field generation, the like. The only thing that will be capped on entry will be her magic negation, as she would feel that the magic of this world somehow resists her ability to cancel it. Sort of 'version incompatibility' if you will. Also, she will not be able to teleport outside of the Moon ship, or outside of the city gates. If she wants to exit, she has to do it in person.
Her magic inhibitors will not be removed upon arrival, but we can definitely explore the possibility of it happening in the future! You can choose to either go through the Blood faction god pact route, or through other magical avenues that will be opened up as the game progresses. Hope this helps!

So Cyrus has some weird magic in his world explained here and I just wanted to run it by you guys first to make sure if anything needed tweaking or nerfing!
no subject
Cyrus is able to keep his innate DNA-sourced abilities as is. What power source does his robotic limbs use? Is it from himself, or does it need batteries? If he uses his souls to fuel blasts from his guns, for example, does he need something else to run the gun as well? And also, will using the soul abilities tire Cyrus out quickly, or slowly? We need some 'usage limits' to approve this part of the abilities.
There is a 'soul system' in place in the game, actually! He will not be able to take 'new souls' from the setting due to plot reasons. Sort of like a 'version incompatibility', if you will.

The Light faction maybe be able to provide a drug that has similar effects, but is not an exact replica of it. Something like the drug being a different colour, or a different chiralty, sort of stuff. Alternatively, the character may choose to enter a pact with a Blood faction god to supply them with it, either in physical edible form or as a constant stream of it manifesting in their bloodstream.
Let us know if those options work for you! If not, I'll try to give more avenues.

plot reasonsversion incompatibility. This will be revealed as the plot moves on. However, the Meow Wow may receive more attention from the spirits, due to it being something of a similar type (but not exactly the same).no subject

The thing about dragons is that they're basically the apex lifeform on the Moon. Not only are dragons capable of defending themselves very well with their fangs/scales/fire, they also have an ability called the Absolute Boundary that lets them project a shield around them. Even for baby dragons, this shield is nigh on impenetrable except by large bombs, so... Not A Good Idea if he's trying to be subtle.
He can steal a dragon, but tamed dragons will need to go under the nose of their roostkeeper. If he wants to steal a wild baby dragon, he could try getting it from the Badlands. Let us know if you choose this option.
However, dragons are not fully intelligent. They can understand human speech to some degree and respond to it with their roars, but training one without the guidance of a roostkeeper is difficult. It seems like the Ice faction uses some hidden technology or magic to be able to communicate with their dragons on a mind-link level.
Also, dragon screams will short out radio or electronic devices. [It's a plot clue]

This dude here (my apologies for the lack of icons :( ) is a dragon-ish person shapeshifter. He can be normal-ish-looking human, or he can be a black dragon person with like a sixty foot wingspan. Would his size be nerfed or, since he can shapeshift into a normal human shape, would it be allowed to stay as-is?
no subject
Unfortunately, his dragon form will also be nerfed to about the size of a large horse. As the game takes place in an enclosed environment, we don't want him to crash into buildings!

Since Lavi is technically dead and is working as a shinki to a god, how would that work here since I believe it was the Blood faction that has the gods? In the Far Shore, Lavi possesses only a few memories from his past life, so I was curious if he'd be able to slowly regain those memories here or if it'd be something to gain like in a canon update. That being said, Lavi has a few shinki techniques under his belt as well, so I'm just trying to figure out how that would be applied here.
no subject
As for the shinki techniques, could you tell me what they are? I'm not very familiar with the Far Shore.

Ryuurei's special soul power is AoE mind reading, of the sort that he can basically tune into any layer of a person's mind within a certain vicinity(9.75 meters), and listen in on multiple people's thoughts at once. Note that it picks up on everyone in the vicinity, irregardless of whether or not he wants to listen to them. He just has to manually focus on things.
Also he modified his eyes with a magical material to see souls. He has glasses which can block the effect though!
Was wondering if either of these would be nerfed/nullified. The rest of his abilities are either directly biological or mundane in nature so these are really the only things I have to ask about here.
no subject
Could I ask if the souls in question are all human or people's souls?

So I have a character I'm considering apping, who... quite frankly has a seriously stupid amount of magic, since he is quite literally god-tier. Most of it is fairly harmless (various D&D style spells, including shapechanging) but there are a few specific ones I wanted to ask about.
One is that he is capable of teleportation- he's not very good at it if he's never been where he's trying to get before, but he still can, and I didn't know if it would be capped to just the Moon etc.
Two, he is essentially immune to damage (hence... why the teleportation question is important, he would 10000% try to teleport into space just to see what would happen). He's a god, albeit one who's very, very new at it and has basically no concept of self preservation. I'm totally fine if that has to be nerfed, but he will be in serious trouble. XD
Third, and the one I think is most likely to be toned down considerably or just taken away, is that he can kind of just... kill people by deciding they should be dead. He's very, very unlikely to ever use it (thank all the adults in his life basically go NO NEVER DO THAT AGAIN after the one time he did use), but... yeah. It's a thing. Sorry for the questions. Sorry my stupid child is overpowered to all hell.
no subject
Teleportation will only be nerfed to within the City itself. He won't be able to teleport into the Badlands or out into space, for plot reasons!
For the damage immunity, it will not be nerfed by default (there may be special plot instances where it might not work), but please check in with us if your character is going to make Bad Decisions (tm) so we can see if we can work a plot clue in. :)
For instant death, as your character is inclined to not use it, we won't be giving a hard nerf. If you do wish to use it, please talk to us! We want to keep track of your character's influence on the setting.

Louise and Lottie are two separate characters of the "but they're much more fun together" type. Lottie is the original person and Louise was built as a replacement for her, but time shenanigans have resulted in Louise being fourty years older than Lottie, and now raising her as her child. Due to the Lottie's-replacement shenanigans, Louise's powers and some of her sense of self heavily hinge on being close to Lottie, while Lottie... frankly is a bit young to run about alone.
So I wanted to ask if they could be apped together by the same person.
If not I have other characters to consider, I'm just espeically interest in finding a game for those two.

In the particular case(s) I'm thinking of, the AU changes aren't drastic as the AU game was set in a very alternate timeline of the canon universe, but the ultimate result is "more willing to play well with others" than the canon version(s).
no subject
That is also acceptable for apping. Please let me know which AU game it is in your application.

So, about how long has it been since the Fall? I got the impression that it had been like 20-ish years, but I can't recall where I picked that up, lol. Also what are the demographics of the Moon like? Like, how much of the population is young and born after the Fall, how much remembers the old Earth, etc.
Also, could you tell me a little bit more about what it would be like to play a PC in the Ice faction? I see that there aren't any PCs there right now and that Ice functions a little differently from the other three.
no subject
Due to the drastic decrease in population, most of the people here still remember their lives on the Old World. About 1/4 of the population is new (born after the Exodus), but as most of people fled the moon at a young age, the actual number of 'second generation' folks are closer to 1/3. Not many old people survived the Exodus, so the proportion of people who are older than 40 is 1/4 of the total pool.
For a PC in the Ice faction, they will be able to bond with a dragon partner. The dragons are intelligent to the level of dolphins, and players are given free reign to 'design' the dragon that their character will bond with. Dragons are the primary way of travel into space and the badlands, so Ice faction PCs will have ease of access to plot-important events in those areas.
Each faction also has its own storyline that PCs can probe into. I can't say much because of spoilers, but Ice faction deals with a lot of secrets that the other factions keep.

Going through previous applications, it looks like a detailed history is required. Problem I have is, Jinx here doesn't have much history since I'd be bringing her in from League of Legends' Star Guardian canon AU. She's got more than enough personality, though.
Would the lack of extensive history prevent her from being apped?
